Catching up is hard to do...

Since my last entry in August, we've been trying to soak in as much as sun as possible. Spending lazy days at the beach and enjoying family time. We had our first Group Run or Wine event in August, as well as our Group Beer Run. In August we finished our events strong with our Seahawks Run (collected over two barrels of donations). September meant the return of routines. We had more signups for our fitness classes as people were trying to prioritize fitness now that the kids were back in school. We started quite a few live Insanity classes at various 24 Hour Fitness locations (Everett, Lynnwood, and Bothell). As well as resumed F.I.T. Games at a local elementary & boot camp with the Everett School District. We also returned back to the UW-Bothell to teach a boot camp as well as offer classes for the students. The beginning of my AB journey

After having a baby, I knew the first part of my body I wanted to address was my ab area. It was also the last part of my body I wanted to work on! I felt flabby and loose. I wanted to begin a program that targeted the ab region but didn't have me doing 1 million crunches. After doing some research on where to start after having a baby, I found out I needed to get my core stronger and rehab the trauma of childbirth in order to lose weight. I am currently switching between RevAbs (a Beachbody DVD) and the Tracy Anderson (post-partum DVD) videos. RevAbs is upbeat and full of energy. I like that Brett, the instructor (was a trainer on the Biggest Loser) is funny and charming. He brings back the "old school" lingo/moves. The video doesn't have you doing countless crunches. There are many upper and lower body exercises that give you a full body workout. Many people have said you can't target one area - that is so true. ...

Cryo-what?

I've heard of this whole ice bath as a recovery for years. I had never personally taken ice baths, but heard from many that it hurt, but was worth the recovery. I recently stumbled across cryotherapy. Whole Body Cryotherapy is the exposure of the human body to extreme cold that is applied inside a cryosauna. It is performed in response to injury, long-term conditioning of the heal of the boy, and it is also used for positive aesthetic effects it has on the skin.* Icehouse Cryotherapy sent a message to me through one of my Facebook groups. They were interested in getting our group out to try the therapy. I was skeptical at first. Why would I want to purposely go into a chamber of ice? What was all the hype about?
